Brightwave unveils latest version of award-winning social learning platform Tessello

One year after its initial launch, tessello version 2.0 was shown for the first time to an enthusiastic public at Learning Technologies 2014. Following its win in the 'Most innovative new learning hardware or software product' category at the 2013 E-Learning Awards, tessello took another step forward with the new version of the platform, which boasts extended functionality and a reinvented look and feel.

Brightwave exhibited the new version of tessello in a packed exhibition hall at Europe's largest learning technologies event, displaying the social learning platform's latest features on laptop, mobile phone and tablet.

Investment in tessello 2.0 has been focused on building on the existing functionality of version 1.8, with significant improvements to the User Interface to make learner interactions smoother and more pleasurable to support active an<d ongoing engagement within the tessello community. The new look and feel has been designed to suit the lifestyle and expectations of today's social-networked learner. The interface has been influenced by globally recognised social media brands and includes an improved alert function for new content, plus community sharing, rating and gamification functionality.

Brightwave also unveiled a new tessello mobile app for Android, which alongside the existing tessello iOS app now allows smartphones users to capture, share and harness their own informal learning experiences, wherever they are.

"After an award-winning first year for tessello we were keen to enter our second year with even greater momentum. We have worked closely with existing customers of tessello, including global organisations in the professional services, communications and healthcare space, to better understand where improvements can be made. I am delighted with the overwhelmingly positive response tessello 2.0 received at Learning Technologies 2014, and am looking forward to the future development of this innovative product from Brightwave", Brightwave CEO Charles Gould said.

The launch of tessello 2.0's at Learning Technologies 2014 was accompanied by a free seminar - Cultures of Contribution (http://www.brightwave.co.uk/learning-technologies-2014/panel-session-cultures-of-contribution)- where experts from Brightwave, LearnerLab (http://www.learnerlab.com) and KPMG drew on theory, technology and personal experience in a compelling example of tessello creating a vibrant online learning community. Full presentation slides from the seminar are available here: http://www.tessello.co.uk/

A specially produced promotional film showing tessello 2.0 in action was also screened at the event. Filmed by Brighton-based FatSand Productions, the one-minute short offers a fast-paced example of how tessello can capture unique, one-off experiences and turn them into organisation-wide assets. Tessello's unique functionality creates a community of learning which enables social curation and collaboration through recording, sharing and rating of on- and offline learning experiences via a bookmarklet or mobile app. tessello creates a space to meet the modern learning needs of large teams or project groups, where they can interact with each other and curated learning resources such as videos, infographics, PDFs, e-learning courses and blended learning solutions.

Integration with the TinCan/Experience API also lets tessello learners capture and harness the power of the smaller, personal lessons they pick up throughout their day, turning vast reserves of informal knowledge into tangible benefits and resources for the whole organisation.
